SIBA launches Beerflex

SIBA Direct Delivery Scheme (DDS) evolves in response to growing demand for quality independent beers. Launched in 2003, DDS has been very successful in creating access to pubs within pub companies for hundreds of brewers. It is a practical and efficient scheme whereby participating SIBA brewers deliver their beers directly to local tied or managed pubs via a centrally administered service. SIBA is renaming DDS to ‘Beerflex’ in order to reflect the organisation’s plans to grow the commercial opportunities for its members in a changing beer and pubs market. Cyclops accreditation hits 2000

Cyclops, the accreditation scheme for beer, has now reached 2000 beers. The number is growing fast, with over 400 new beers accredited in the last twelve months. The recent growth in cask ale and craft beer is the result of new drinkers being attracted to beers which are neither bland nor mass produced and Cyclops, since its inception eight years ago, has done much to inform drinkers’ decision making when it comes to choosing interesting and tasty beers both in the pub and off trade. SIBA unveils speakers for BeerX

The speakers, who will address BeerX on Thursday 13 March, are: Tim Martin, founder of JD Wetherspoon; Dr Charlie Bamforth, UK and USA brewing industry guru; Steve Grossman of Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and Nicky Morgan, economic secretary to the treasury. Also included will be presentations by Fuller’s head brewer John Keeling and Roger Ryman of St Austell Brewery, who will share their brewing expertise.
