Saturday Kitchen – Two weeks in onealetalk
We’ve been busy getting ready to launch the new aletalk website, so here we have beer and food matching for the last two weeks in April 2012
Matching for 28/4/2012 – unfortunately we can’t tell you what they say this week as the BBC website is devoid of their wine pairings for the food.
Tubetti pasta with clams, mussels and rocket
We say: Hoegaarden Wit, 330ml, Beer Ritz £1.97
Belgian wheat beer, spiced with bitter orange peel and coriander. Soft, complex and rewarding
Tarragon chicken blanquette
We say: Orkney Red MacGregor, 500ml, TheRealAleStore £2.90
A ruby-red colour, a floral and lychee aroma, with hints of spiciness and toasted malts.
Grilled mackerel with pickled turnip, asparagus and watercress
We say: Hardknott Dark Energy, 500ml, beermerchants £2.60
Roasty and fairly dry, with a big fruitiness
Chocolate mousse cake with Pimms roasted rhubarb and ice cream
We say: Hardknott Vitesse Noir, 330ml, hardknott.com £5.25
A triple imperial stout infused with vanilla, coffee and chocolate
No apologies for including Vitesse Noir in our beer and food matching again, it’s a fabulous beer to have with a sweet like this and to cap it off, I helped design/brew the first batch of it…
